Rain

It's pouring down rain here and I'm nothing but happy. Today was humid humid HUMID. I hope the rain stays through out the evening (and through my sleepy time) then stops in time for me to make it in to work...then start again while I'm at work....then stop when I leave work and start again when I'm in for the evening.

Is there an appropriate rain dance for the above request?

Various Elmwood People/Places/Things.....

- The "Crazy" Woman: To call her crazy might not be fair, but when a woman walks around all day and spouts off conspiracy theories about the British first family and a soap opera (Days of our Lives to my recollection) at Wilson Farms I can't help but call her so. Please don't yell at me again.

- The Man who Sells Glass Pendants and Other Misc. Jewelry: A very nice man who usually has a back pack and other various black "hemp" stuff attached to most appendages. I don't thing I'll ever buy your stuff. Sorry.

- That Hippie Chick: Shes usually on her bike wearing odd outfits I can only describe as Day-Glo fashion for the colors and the huge hippie earrings of various colors. I'd like to see more of you.

- The Guy Who Collects Cans: My favorite regular. Hes the one picking up your empties who has the long white beard. Very polite. You can always have my empties.

- The Asian Looking Man who Plays the Guitar and "Sings": I've never understood a word he's every said/sung, but as a new edition I appreciate the "music". Stop. Please.

- The Workers at Wilson Farms: THANK YOU!

- The "Comic Book" store by the tattoo parlor: Please do better.....you all are always unwelcome and never have anything I want.

- Don Apparel: Please come back....please? You were the best vintage store and got me wearing bell bottoms before they every came back.

- Falafel Bar: Why didn't you keep your Elmwood location open? You didn't look very busy when I saw you at your Allentown local the other day.

- SPoT: Are you ever going to expand to the old New World Records spot? I think I've seen the Under Construction side for over a year.

Trash Day

I would also like to remind all my Elmwood neighbors who are not reading this that for most of us, tonight is trash night. I would especially like to remind the house on the corner of my bodega and my main road that you need to take out your trash cause I smelled it while walking by, but didn't see anything on your front stoop.

I hope you all will understand why I would not mention the specific street crossing cause I don't want my butt kicked by the large males I usually see in front of this particular home and, well....my comment is kinda rude.

But really people.............take out your trash.

The Girl is Back in Town

It occurs to me how often I've been thinking, I really should blog. And what's stopping me? Not much other than pure darn laziness and more recently, it's so HOT in the office where my computer is. Mostly it's laziness though. That and no one is missing it, but it makes me feel better so I need to keep up with it.

So in the neighborhood.........in my opinion it's been hotter than hell here. Temps have lingered in the high 80's which may not seem that bad to some, but pair that with barely a breeze and no A/C you've got yourself a doozy of a summer. I'm sweating bullets as we speak and I haven't even slept in my bedroom (which is in the back of the house which gets NO breeze) in about two weeks. I've taken to freezing bottles of water and a plastic baggied washcloth to try and defeat the heat.

As a plus I've been getting rides to work with my mother (which with whom I live) to work since we work in the same building and we missed the madness of the Motivational Speaker conference thing that was downtown at the arena. We pulled into the parking lot at about 7:30 and there was already a line for parking. Although we aren't monthly parkers, we have been driving in almost every day for the last couple months and the parking lot monitor (thats what I like to call him) let us through. What was that Motivational Speaker conference about anyways? Did I hear Colin Powell was there? What is he doing to motivate America? Really....I want to know.

The rest of the day was work.....getting home to write a bunch of "Eat Me" notes in my Grandmother's fridge (the good kind of Eat Me...like....I'm delicious!), la di da-ing, and then going for a walk up Bidwell and left on Elmwood. I was looking for a breeze in my late night walk, but I didn't find it. I did find a young man asking everyone woman who walked by if she would have sex with him. My rather (I thought) polite response was "I don't even know you", but on the walk back down the same block after getting smokes at the 24 Hour Store (which still isn't carrying the 24 Hour Store T Shirt) heard the same gentleman telling another female walking ahead of me that she had given the best response of the evening (granted I didn't hear what that was). Any who, I bummed the horny male and his lady friend (I hope not his GF) smokes and inquired about the experiment. Was told, "why not cut out all the BS....would you like to come up to my room?", to which I politely (I thought) declined, snickered and went on my way. The dude had long hair and I'm not into that look anyways.

I'm contemplating all kinds of things I'd rather not share yet, but I'm pretty satisfied with. Wishing for an Air Conditioner for my room.....someone to clean my room, money, money, money, and the will to wake up without an alarm clock in cheery spirits.

Morning Report

I haven't really been in the mood to write much the last couple weeks. I was really excited on jump starting this blog, but then I wasn't into it. I have recommitted myself this week. Its do or die. I need to get over DC news and happenings and start getting into Buffalo stuff. Im sure theres plenty to report......right?

-At the bus stop this morning some young guy (younger than me at least) said, "I bet we'll be the only white people on this bus". After he saw the disgusted look on my face he said, "I'm not racist or anything." Yeah. Whatever dude. I turned back up my Jay-Z and when we boarded the bus I noticed about half of its riders were white. Take THAT dude.

-The windows were all frosted over this morning. It is officially COLD. I am desperately in need of my various hats and scarves, but they're still in storage in VA. Luckily I'll be heading down there at the end of next week, but I don't know if thats soon enough! Brrr!

-I got to work and my computer clock is an hour behind. Stupid computers think daylight savings was this week when in fact, it is NEXT week. Got me all confused, I thought I had come into work an hour early. And I can't fix it cause I don't have administrator rights on this computer. Which leads to the question: why would you need administrator rights to change the time on a computer?!

I also have a bunch of Bflo pics on my phone that I need to post on here and I'll get to it eventually. One is a not so great shot of the huge moon I saw on Thursday or Friday morning of last week. I mean it was HUGE....at 7am! Very weird.

Crazy Lady Sighting

Up until now, Crazy Lady sightings have been restricted to Elmwood Village, but today she was spotted in front of Shea's Theater heading downtown hooting and hollering about who knows what. I wish she would talk a little slower so that I could understand what she's saying.

Crazy Lady is a woman who roams around Elmwood Village and most often can be found in or around the Wilson Farms on the corner of Elmwood and Auburn. Usually she keeps her ranting to a tolerable, comedic level, but sometimes goes a bit out of hand. She dissapeared for a couple months late this summer, whereabouts unknown, but I have just noticed her back around the area in the last few weeks. I missed her in her absence and hope for many more sightings and hopefully I can pick up some tid bits to share with you all.

This Crazy Lady is not to be confused with the other Crazy Lady I encountered on the train last week who seemed to be having a conversation with her other self on the benefits of moving to Washington, DC.

My home from 8am-5pm Mondays thru Fridays

I went from a fairly spacious office with a door at my last job to this:

Its not much, but its home. I guess I can't expect much when I have "TEMP" practically tattooed across my forehead.
